The Breeding

Millennial Earth

At the gates of a land of breeding, driven by meaning of tradition and the power of a wild aesthetic.

THE SPIRIT

The horse is the soul of Menorca. Its role in the history of the island begins in the 14th century, when soldiers carried out their patrols on horseback along the coast, via a steep path that still winds through Al Parico: el Cami de Cavalls. For this cavalry, King Jaume II wanted horses of undeniable agility.
He decided to cross the small black horses native to the island with the Spanish genet and purebred Arabians. He was also at the origin of jousting, the tradition of which still continues.
During the San Joan's Day festival, the stallions push through the crowds in the narrow streets then stand on their hindquarters to perform the bot, balancing several meters.
Spectators hold them in the air for as long as possible, in an improbable waltz between man and animal.

THE WAY

The precise markers of the Menorcan breed draw a horse with singular elegance. Noble and robust, it is distinguished by its thin and elongated head, its small and curved ears and its narrow nostrils. Its dress must be black, all shades being allowed, from pangaré to jet black. Its flexibility and remarkable balance give its gaits their aerial dimension. For registration in the Minorcan Breed Registration Register, it must present parents registered in the Official Register, suitable for reproduction. If the Al Parico finca has been breeding horses since the 19th century, significant transformations have been made since 2013. Developments which have led to prestigious distinctions including the Best Ganaderia Prize in 2019, 2022 and 2023.
